Anybody who knows me
will know that Christmas is my absolute favourite time of year! So, as you can
imagine, whenever I am asked to style a winter wedding I get just a little bit
excited!! I love the idea of getting married by warm candlelight on a cold,
dark wintery afternoon! The biggest challenge, however, is how to make your
winter wedding seasonal without being too ‘Christmassy’ or even ‘tacky’!
The first instinct is
often to use lots of white, soft blue or silver which can seem quite cold but
with the glow of lots of candles, this colour scheme can be absolutely
gorgeous. Why not try adding soft gold metallics to warm up the look?
The biggest trend I
have noticed in my own brides recently is their desire to incorporate lots of
gypsophilia into their flowers. This is such a simple, understated flower but
when used on its own in large arrangements it can be simply stunning...
It creates the effect
of huge clouds of snow when used like this and is also perfect for winter bouquets.
Another great idea is
to use lots of natural wintery materials such as twigs, pine cones, raw cotton
and moss to create a more relaxed rustic style. You could even spray these with
snow for a more wintery effect...

How about a pine cone
bouquet for something a bit more daring? Or try incorporating seasonal foliage
into your bouquet...

Red is also a
fantastic colour at Christmas but why not try a deeper burgundy or aubergine
colour instead of a traditional red for a very chic look?
